The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, on its recent announcement, declared inactivating drug and manufacturing establishment listings that are not current in one month. The decision is made taking into account the effects that the outdated drugs have on health. In the past year, the FDA noted tens and thousands of drugs that were not updated.

With this announcement, the FDA ensures that the drugmakers should not list any faulty or outdated human drugs or any other information relevant to the drug and its establishments in their listings and it must be accurate and up-to-date. The acting FDA commissioner Ned Sharpless commented on the updating of the drug listings stating that the inaccuracy in the listings can compromise with the FDA's ability to make timely decisions to protect and maintain public health and the integrity of its database.
